   cartoonist, illustrator
   René Goscinny, who was born in Paris, began the comic strip Lucky Luke in 1955. In 1959, he created, with albert uderzo, Astérix, the Gaul and the one of the most famous French comic strips, which appeared in the first edition of Pilote, a magazine that Goscinny cofounded with uzdero and the Belgian cartoonist Jean-Michel Charlier, and in the magazine Iznogoud in 1962. Thanks to the worldwide success of Astérix, Goscinny could launch in Pilote a new generation of artists who addressed their work to an adult audience.
